Fat-ypus Alotta: Freeskier Magazine Editors Pick for 2007!
freeskier editors pick 07Freeskier Magazine has announced the top new skis for 2007. And while major manufacturers make up the bulk of the top freeride skis for next winter, some notable surprises have also made the grade.

Take, for example, Fat-ypus. This small Colorado company shocked Freeskier Magazine ski testers with the A-lotta. This phenomenal powder tool also boasts exceptional hard snow carving ability, confounding expectations of how a ski 140 mm underfoot should behave.

“Fat-ypus changed our perception of how fat skis perform,” said Tom Winter, senior editor of Boulder-based Freeskier Magazine. “This ski is amazing in deep snow, but it also leaves deep trenches on the groomers when you’re carving.”

Lengths available: 170, 180
Dimensions: 172/140/158
Cost: $875

The most versatile mega-fat on the market, the A-Lotta was THE surprise of the test. Rules in powder, carves up the groomers and generally kills it.
